Come and explore our Great Lake! Hike to the beach, get hands-on and learn about one of the most important natural resources in our own back yard! This newly redesigned program has all new hands-on activities about water quality, marine life and marine debris. While down at the beach, take part in a mini-service project. Plan on spending about 3 hours with us for your hike and water activities.

Sign up below for your 2-hour hike. Activities will continue at the Center throughout the day.

Live at the Hive

For adults and children ages 10 and up

Get sticky with beekeeper Christine Barnett as we open up our beehives to extract honey.  Learn about the life cycle of bees, their contribution to our environment and how they create honey.  Opening the hives is weather dependent but an extraction demonstration and fresh honey tasting will take place rain or shine.

Child Only Day Camp

June 18 - 20 at 12:30 - 2:00 PM

For children ages 4 - 8

Just imagine a fairy garden for ladybugs!  Join us for a magical three-day nature camp featuring everyone's favorite bug!  Each child will paint and decorate miniature décor and use real plants to create their very own ladybug garden.  On the final day of camp, you and your child will take home a live ladybug larvae and watch its metamorphosis!  The little ladybug can then be released into the special habitat they designed at camp. Class fee includes all supplies.

Perseid Meteor Shower Night

For adults and children ages 3 and up

Enjoy an engaging planetarium presentation about meteors and get the chance to hold an actual meteorite!  Take part in a kitchen comet demonstration to get an up-close look at these dirty snowballs and learn how they create meteor showers.  Spread out our blankets and enjoy the sky show in Huntington Reservation.

Back To Nature Day Camp For  Girls: WE ARE WILD!

For girls who have completed grades K-5

This year we will head back into the woods for a fun-filled adventure working on outdoor skills. Campers will practice leaf rubbing, encounter native wildlife, learn how to tie knots and develop their outdoor skills.  Craft your own adventure kit and have a blast playing games, visiting the planetarium and hiking through Huntington Reservation.  Camp will conclude with a popsicle party!  This camp is great for Girl Scouts but you do not need to be a Girl Scout to enjoy the fun!  Please bring a packed lunch and water bottle.

This hallmark program in our beautiful Porter Creek classroom introduces children to the wonders of science and nature!  Through live animal encounters, outdoor hikes, stories, crafts, games and planetarium shows, the children discover something different each week.  Children must be fully bathroom independent.

PS 2019-2020 Earthlings

Earthlings STEAM Curriculum!

For children ages 4 - 6 (in Log Cabin)

This 3-hour adventure is full of hands-on fun in our classroom, planetarium and the great outdoors! Whether preparing for Kindergarten or already attending, your little earthling will love this program where we investigate the wonders of Earth and the sky above.  Children will receive a backpack they can load with gear to explore science, technology, engineering, the arts, math and nature.
